Media Registration & Guidelines


SHSA 2026, the Symposium on Hidradenitis Suppurativa Advances, is a meeting co-hosted by the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation and the Canadian Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation. This year, SHSA will be held November 6 to 8, 2026 at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Tucson, Arizona. Working press are welcome, and press registration is free.


How to register

Media registration is free, but required: no registration, no press badge. Please complete the steps below to ensure proper registration.


  1. Contact us at info@hs-foundation.org to request access to registration.
  2. Include your press credential (press card, masthead, business card or assignment letter) and two recent bylined health, science or medical articles. Freelancers should include an assignment letter.
  3. We will review applications within three business days. Approved press receive a confirmation email, and further instructions on registering. 

Approval is at the discretion of the SHSA Staff, and approval for one meeting does not guarantee the next.


Who can register

  • Working journalists at news, medical or trade outlets with ongoing original editorial coverage.
  • Freelance journalists with an assignment letter from the outlet.
  • Communications and public information staff at universities, health systems, government agencies and nonprofits, up to two per institution.

Advertising, marketing and PR professionals, industry communications staff, and those producing sponsored or internal content are not eligible for press registration. Not sure whether you qualify? Email us and we will help.


What press receive

  • Access to the scientific sessions and poster sessions.
  • Help connecting with presenters who are open to interviews.
  • A media badge, picked up at the registration desk with photo ID.


Ground rules

  • Embargoes: Materials marked as embargoed may not be reported before the date and time shown and/or provided, which are given in Arizona time (MST). Journalists who break an embargo lose access to embargoed materials and are not approved for future SHSA meetings.
  • Interviews: Please request interviews through us rather than approaching speakers directly. We will check with the presenter first.
  • Recording: No audio or video recording of sessions, and no photos of slides or posters without the presenter's permission.
  • Patients: Patients attending SHSA are not to be approached by press. Written consent is required before a patient is photographed, quoted or named.
  • Closed events: Sponsor, affiliate and committee meetings are not open to press. Receptions are also not open to press.
  • Credit: Please cite SHSA 2026, presented jointly by the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation and the Canadian Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation, as the source of the research.
